BENGALURU: The Silicon City, with its notorious traffic and crumbling infrastructure, has fallen to 146th spot on the global livability rankings.
The ranking is a yearly assessment published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), which ranks 172 global cities (previously 140) for their urban quality of life based on assessments of stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.
Among Indian cities too, Bengaluru has dropped to fifth place in the ranking. New Delhi, with a score of 56.5, is ranked 140th following by Mumbai at 141 (56.2), Chennai at 142 (55.8), Ahmedabad at 143 (55.7) followed by Bengaluru with a score of 54.4.
Just last year, Bengaluru was recognised as the fastest growing tech hub.
