BENGALURU: Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesh G has expedited the magisterial inquiry into the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede incident.

As part of the inquiry, the DC met with the injured victims from 11 am to 1.30 pm on Wednesday, where they recounted the traumatic experience.

One of the victims, Mounish, said, “I went to the stadium after seeing the RCB’s Instagram post about free tickets. While returning, everyone fell on top of me”.

Another victim described how his leg got stuck under the barricade and around 15 people stepped on it. The sight of the injured victims with bandages on their heads, legs, and hands was heart-wrenching.

There are concerns about the magisterial inquiry, with some questioning why the victims were called to the office instead of the DC visiting their homes. The magistrate has summoned suspended IPS officer B Dayananda to appear for further inquiry. The CID team had earlier visited the Chinnaswamy Stadium to collect evidence and has obtained CCTV footage from three entry points.
