BENGALURU: The special court for elected representative in Bengaluru has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for not appearing before it over his alleged statement on Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao’s wife Tabu Rao.
Yatnal was to appear before the court on Wednesday for his alleged statement that ‘there is half Pakistan in Dinesh Gundu Rao family’. Dinesh Gundu Rao’s wife Tabassum Rao filed a petition against the BJP MLA. As Basanagouda patil Yatnal didn’t appear, a single-judge bench of K N Shivakumar issued the NBW against the MLA and posted matter October 28.
On October 5, Tabassum Rao, wife of Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, lodged a complaint with the Karnataka State Women’s Commission against the BJP’s state unit social media cell, citing derogatory comments made about her in a social media post.
“I have filed a complaint with the Karnataka Women’s Commission against the BJP for their continuous derogatory and communal remarks against me, despite my lack of involvement in active politics. Attacking a woman is petty. Women deserve respect, not abuse”, Tabassum Rao posted on X.
She also mentioned that she had already filed a defamation suit against BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for previous derogatory comments. “As someone who is not involved in politics, I find it reprehensible that my personal life and community are being dragged into the political arena. It is unacceptable to target family members of politicians simply because of their relationships”, she said. (ANI)
