BENGALURU: After several deepfake (AI) photos, videos of film industry celebrities started making rounds, the city police have taken up the issue seriously and are looking for possible ways to curb such digital fraud.
As part of the endeavour the Bengaluru City Police have launched helpline number and citizens who find themselves in trouble due to such videos can call the helpline 1930.
Taking the ‘X’ Bengaluru City Police state stated, “Don’t hesitate, be aware!. If you or someone you know has been trapped in deepfakes videos, then call 1930 and contact Bengaluru City Police. We are with you to protect you from digital fraud”.

After the deepfake video of actor Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, Kajol and even a Garba dance deepfake video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi started doing the rounds, the police are gearing up to fight digital fraud.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was surprised to see a deepfake video in which he was performing garba. He said that is a big threat to all citizens and raised concern over deepfake videos stating that it is a challenge arising from Artificial Intelligence (AI). There is a need to educate people about Artificial Intelligence and deepfakes, the PM stressed.
