BELAGAVI: The death of dairy entrepreneur Shivkant Sidnal, son of former MP S B Sidnal, has taken a curious turn with with his wife alleging black magic by other family members with an eye on the business. Shivkant’s wife Deepa is the daughter of businessman and former MP Vijay Sankeshwar.

Shivkant Sidnal was running Vijaykant Dairy and Food Products Ltd, the makers of Adityaa milk and other milk products. The company had been giving tough competition to the Nandini brand of milk and milk products of the state-run Karnataka Milk Federation.

Shivkant Sidnal died on April 6 this year due to illness. Now, his wife Deepa has approached the Camp police station with a complaint against Shivkant’s brother Shashikant Sidnal, Vani Sidnal and Digvijay Sidnal. She has alleged that black magic was done in front of their house from 2019 to 2024 and also at Shivkant’s grave with an eye on Vijaykant Dairy and Food Products Ltd.

Belagavi Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang said, “The complaint was received at the Camp police station on June 29 and an FIR has been registered under different sections of different Acts. We have taken up further investigation”.

Shivkant and Deepa got married in 2002 and in partnership with Vijay Sankeshwar, Shivakant set up Vijaykant Dairy and Food Products Ltd at Neginhal village. The dairy would collect 1.20 lakh litres of milk every day and sell milk and other milk products. The brand had expanded to other states also.

Between 2019 and 2024, Shivkant had been keeping ill health. Curiously, during the same period black magic would be performed near his house on full moon and new moon days. Deepa had complained to the police, but to no avail. Finally, an astrologer from north India was called who revealed about the occult practice and had conducted puja.

However, after Shivkant died, black magic had been performed near his grave too. Fed up of this, Deepa decided to lodge a complaint.
