KARWAR: Uttara Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Priya has issued a notice to the deputy director of the tourism department, Jayanth, after bedroom-like arrangements, complete with a furnished cot and sofa set, were found secretly tucked away in one part of the office building. The notice is dated February 17 and the officer was given three days time to reply.

The issue came to light when the office of the tourism department deputy director, which was on NH-66, was being shifted to the DC’s office building to facilitate creation of access to the district hospital.

The deputy director of the tourism department, Jayanth, who is also the deputy director of the heavy industries department, had proceeded to Bengaluru on official duty and handed over charge to Karwar Assistant Commissioner Kanishka in his absence. When Kanishka ordered shifting of the office, the bedroom-like arrangements were found hidden behind a door which was blocked by an almirah.

The discovery has created curiosity and since Jayanth had not replied to the notice, the district administration is preparing to take further action against him, sources said.
