BENGALURU: The Bangalore Development Authority  (BDA) has planned to add two more lanes on the Hebbal flyover to avoid traffic congestion.

BDA plans to expand two more lanes on the Hebbal flyover to avoid traffic congestion.

The Hebbal flyover presently has four lanes. The BDA has planned to expand two more lanes in 15 months at a cost of Rs 50 crore. The expansion project was decided in 2016, but it was shelved due to the steel bridge proposal.

Initially, there was a proposal to have a steel bridge from Basaveshwara Circle to Hebbal. The project was, however, abandoned due to stiff opposition from citizens and some poitical parties.

Under the new expansion plan, the carriageways leading to KR Puram, international airport and the lane leading towards Shivananda Circle will be widened.

Prahlad, BBMP Chief Engineer

“Hebbal flyover needs to be expanded. The BDA has come up with the plan to add two more lanes. The project was earlier abandoned due to technical issues. The technical advisory committee has now given a detailed project report (DPR). Following this, the BDA has called for tenders and we hope to reduce traffic congestion in that area”, said BBMP Chief Engineer Prahlad.
