BENGALURU: The Namma Metro service is operating from Baiyappanahalli to Kengeri, and the service will be extended till Challaghatta in the coming days. With the completion of this project, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) foresees higher Metro ridership. If the Metro is extended up to Challaghatta, the BDA expects that its flats that have remained unsold so far will fetch a higher price.
The BDA was earlier allotting sites to people in the city and in recent years, it has also started construction of flats. The BDA had assured that flats will be sold at minimum rates and also constructed many apartments, but may have faltered when choosing the sites for the apartments.
The BDA had built apartments on the outskirts of Bengaluru as people were looking for flats at lesser rates. However, there was not much interest in buying the BDA flats as they had no proper road connectivity. The BDA residential complex constructed in Kommaghatta is also one of them. Now, the BDA hopes that demand for these flats will increase with Metro connectivity.
If the Metro service is extended up to Challaghatta, the distance to the Kommaghatta flats will be just 1.8 km and there will be easy Metro connectivity. The present rate for a 2BHK accommodation in Kommaghatta starts at Rs 25 lakh. But even then, people were not to buy them due to lack of bus and Metro connectivity. Now, with the Metro service being extended, the BDA is expecting to sell all the remaining flats at Kommaghatta.
