BENGALURU: The Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) has broken by collecting Rs 53.89 crore up to April this year in ticket sales after suffering losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The BBP has now bounced back after suffering huge losses in 2020-21. The park has faced difficulties feeding animals for the last two years, and the officials had appealed to animal lovers to adopt them. At present, the main revenue source of the park is tourist entry and the officials organise different activities to boost revenue.
Bannerghatta Biological Park has proven that it is one of the most important tourist destinations in the state through its fund collection. After the Covid-19 pandemic, in the year 2022–2033, 2,22,993 tourists have visited BBP leading to revenue generation of Rs 53.89 crore. In the years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, only Rs 15 crore was generated. This year, the BBP has surpassed its previous record of over Rs 20 crore revenue.
“The BBP has recorded the highest of income compared to the last three years. We have received Rs 53.89 crore, and more than 16 lakh tourists have visited the park this year. We have planned to bring more animals to attract tourists. We have discussed the issue, and our new attraction, a cheetah safari, will be open for visitors soon”, said Sunil Kumar Panwar, Executive Director of BBP.
“Bannerghatta Biological Park is a perfect place for a one-day picnic, so most families spend the weekend here. This is a favourite place for kids and, compared to the last 10 years, they have maintained it very well and improved the facilities”, said Praveen, a visitor.
