BENGALURU: Bengaluru’s roads are known for traffic congestion and potholes. Despite promises by the civic agency to make the city roads pothole-free, the issue persists.

According to a recent count by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), there are a staggering 12,721 potholes across eight zones in Bengaluru.

In a BBMP meeting held at the end of July, it was reported that there are a total of 12,721 potholes across eight zones in Bengaluru. The zones with the highest number of potholes are Yelahanka with 2,830 and Mahadevapura with 2,388.

Zone-wise potholes information

According to BBMP, out of the 12,721 potholes reported through the Gaman app, 6,230 have been fixed, leaving 4,324 potholes to be filled. In Yelahanka, 1,328 potholes were reportedly fixed and in Mahadevapura, 1,045 were fixed.

The persistent problem of potholes has left citizens frustrated and the BBMP’s efforts to address the issue seem to be falling short. The promise of a pothole-free Bengaluru remains just that—a promise.
