BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has planned to take up the demolition drive against encroachments in the new year.

Earlier, in September, after the heavy rain and flooding, the Palike had started encroachment clearance operations and demolished buildings and walls obstructing water flow in rajakaluves. On Tuesday, a progress review meeting was held under the chairmanship of BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath regarding the encroached rajakaluves in Mahadevapura and Bommanahalli zones. Bengaluru Urban District Deputy Commissioner Dayananda, Revenue Department officials and BBMP officials participated in the meeting.

BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath chaired a review meeting on Tuesday.

“No demolition drive work has been stopped and we are following the rules. We held a meeting with Revenue Department officials to discuss the same. Recently, we undertook some demolition work in the Mahadevapura zone. We are conducting surveys along with the Revenue Department. After the survey, we have to send a report to the tahsildar and we follow instructions according to that”, said BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath.
