BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will soon appoint nine officers for disaster management to tackle natural disasters in the city.
The executive committee of the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Authority (KSDMA) has approved the civic body’s proposal to form the team.
The move comes after the city witnessed heavy flooding in the first week of September. Of the nine officers, one will be working at the BBMP head office while the remaining eight will work in the eight zones. The main task of the officers is to check flooding in the eight zones. The BBMP decided to form such a team to study the problem and find a permanent solution.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said that he will send the file to the State Chief Secretary. A team of nine members will be officially appointed as soon as he receives the orders.
