BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to eviction 63 houses built on the buffer zone near Hosakerehalli Lake based on the orders issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
The NGT’s order comes after it was found that the houses were built on Hosakerehalli lake land which was encroached upon and houses were built in the buffer zone violating environmental norms.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will inspect the place, examine the houses whether it built under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme and Slum Board. If they were built in violation of environmental norms, it will decide on the next course of action regarding the demolition of the houses.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said that they will investigate the matter and take action accordingly. He added that they will check whether the houses were built by the Slum Board or under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme and take action accordingly.
