BBMP to cancel one lakh A khatas which were converted illegally, act against officials

BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is planning to cancel one lakh A khatas which were illegally converted from B khata in all the eight zones after a scrutiny committee found illegalities in the process.

The highest number of about 1,000 such cases were detected in one sub-division in Anjanapura alone. With the investigation continuing, more such cases are expected to come to light. The investigation has also established the involvement of zonal level officials and the BBMP is planning action against them.

Palike Special Commissioner (Finance) Jayaram Raipura has sought information from all wards about all the A khatas that have been issued. The civic body plans to revert all the A khatas that were converted illegally, back to B khatas.

“We have conducted an inspection in a sub-division in Anjanapura. The illegal conversion of khata has happened over the last 10 years. We will initiate action against all the officials involved”, Raipura said.
