BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has formed a committee to examine the irregularities in the issuance of A-Khata certificates for unapproved layouts in the city.

A few years ago, 110 villages were added to the BBMP limits. After this, many sites came up on revenue land and land transfer was not done, but the BBMP and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) have provided the civic infrastructure for such sites. These sites could have been regularised under the Akrama-Sakrama scheme, but the Supreme Court has stayed the scheme.

BBMP has formed a committee to examine the irregularities in the issuance of A khata certificates for unapproved layouts.

At present, the BBMP collects property tax by for such sites as per B-khata.
