BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued notices to the Vidhana Soudha and Raj Bhavan administration over pending property tax dues. The two buildings are among scores of government structures which owe crores in tax dues to the civic body.

Several government departments, including the Vikasa Soudha, have not paid up taxes over the last 17 years. The BBMP has now issued notices to the heads of 258 government establishments from which taxes are due.

Speaking to Public TV, BBMP East zone commissioner Snehal confirmed that notices have been issued. “I don’t have the figures, but they have some dues. Notices were issued during the One-Time Settlement scheme and now we have sent reminders”, she said.

To a question on whether the dues amounted to Rs 182 crore, Snehal said she was not aware of the figures. “We have given notice to Vidhana Soudha also. We keep giving reminder notices regularly. We have been issuing notices since last July”, she added.
