BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities on Friday locked up Mantri Square Mall in Malleswaram over unpaid taxes amounting to about Rs 50 crore. The mall staff and other employees were left waiting outside as the BBMP officials, who had come with police protection, sealed the premises.

Staff and employees were left waiting outside.

Previously, the mall authorities had resumed business after approaching the court when the BBMP had sealed it on eight occasions. But now, with the weekend, the mall management will have to wait till Monday before they can seek legal reprieve.

A posse of police personnel was stationed to prevent any untoward incident.

On Friday morning, the BBMP marshals announced on public announcement systems that the mall had been closed. A police platoon was also stationed at the spot to prevent any untoward incident.
