BENGALURU: After the Babusabpalya tragedy, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has been jolted into action against unauthorized buildings. It has now started putting up banners on under-construction building which are illegal.
Following a survey, the BBMP identified over 2,000 illegal buildings in the city, with the Mahadevapura zone having the highest number. The BBMP has issued notices to these buildings, warning the owners to demolish the illegal construction within seven days or face seizure.
At least eight people died after a seven-storey under-construction building collapsed in Babusabpalya recently. Following this incident, BBMP conducted a survey of unauthorized buildings under construction in the city.
