BBMP proposes four more flyovers, underpass to ease traffic flow in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: With traffic increasing steadily, Bengaluru is now the world’s second city to witness heavy traffic congestion. The government and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) are are working on several measures to ease traffic on the city’s roads. As part of this, the BBMP has proposed five new flyovers at a total cost of over Rs 200 crore.

The new flyovers that are proposed in Bengaluru by the BBMP are at Gokula road near the busy Mathikere turn at a cost of Rs 40 crore; at ORR-Pipeline junction at Jalahalli at a cost at Rs 40 crore; from Mekhri Circle to Jayamahal Road at a cost of Rs 65 crore; at Sadashivanagar police station circle at Rs 40 crore to BBMP and an underpass near Yelahanka Raitha Santhe Circle (Rs 25 crore released to NHAI).

Ravindra, BBMP special commissioner, the construction work all proposed flyover will be started after the election.
Ravindra, BBMP special commissioner said, “The BBMP had announced four fly-overs and one underpass in 2023-24 budget. The total budget for these projects will be about Rs 210 crore. The construction work will be started soon after the election is completed. All the proposed projects will be discussed in the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). Everything will be discussed with the Police department after preparing the detailed project report (DPR)”.
