BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has an ambitious plan to link street food vendors with online food aggregators like Swiggy and Zomato. While this will benefit those looking for good quality food at lower prices, vendors seem to have their own apprehensions.

The BBMP has already started collecting details of street food vendors and plans to train them at a cost of Rs 3,250 per vendor in all its eight zones. Experts will conduct the training for a week and the vendors will also get a certificate on completion. They will also be given loans after which vendors can operate in specific locations.

“It will definitely help our business, but there are some concerns regarding online payments. We have heard that there are some problems with online payments. We have to see how this will be sorted out. I’m ready to undergo whatever training will be given. If payments issues are sorted out, I’m open for it”, says Sandesh, a street food vendor.
