BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has issued demolition notices to several private properties around the Jakkur aerodrome for violating norms relating to the permitted height of the structures. A 5-km radius around the aerodrome is considered as a no-fly zone as flying training activities are to be taken up.
The step has been taken in view of air safety norms and 11 properties have been identified for demolition. The list of identified properties individuals/projects along with the extent of deviation/lack of documents.
The civic agency is also planning to take up drone survey of properties to increase its revenue through property tax. About 150 properties on Airport Road have already been surveyed by drones and physical verification needs to be done, said BBMP Special Commissioner Deepak.
The Palike has already collected over Rs 1,000 crore in property tax in just 28 days. It now plans to team up with power utility Bescom to widen its tax net.
Chief commissioner on night rounds
With the pothole filling work going on, Palike Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath on Thursday night inspected the ongong work near Cauvery Junction.
“I have inspected work in RR Nagar, Dasarahalli and East zones. Of the 11,000 potholes identifieds, 7,000 have been filled. By June 6, we will fill all potholes. Every week, we are identifying 1,000 potholes and filling them. People have been complaining about potholes on main roads and interior roads. We will look into these also,” he said.
On cutting of roads by other utilities such as Bescom and BWSSB, he said Girinath said those agencies will themselves have to fix the road.
