BBMP DCF transferred without posting following two-wheeler rider’s death after tree branch fell on him

BENGALURU: Days after a man died due to head injuries after a branch of a tree fell on him, the government has transferred Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Deputy Conservator of Forests (forest wing) B L G Swamy without any posting.

The government had empowered the Urban Development Department to name an officer in Swamy’s place and accordingly, Chikkamagalur DCF Sudarshan G K was posted in the BBMP.

Twenty-nine-year-old Akshay, suffered severe head injuries after a tree branch fell on him while he was riding a two-wheeler near Brahmachaitanya Temple in Basavanagudi. He had slipped into deep coma was declared brain dead by doctors treating him at a hospital in the city on Wednesday.

Akshay was admitted to the hospital on June 15 and underwent surgery, but despite the medical efforts, he had not shown any response even 60 hours after the procedure. Normally, doctors consider a patient brain dead if there is no brain activity 48 hours after surgery. In Akshay’s case, the prolonged lack of brain response has led doctors to conclude that he is brain dead.

A tree branch had fallen on Akshay, causing him to lose control of his two-wheeler, which then collided with a parked car. Akshay’s friend, Prashant, was also injured and fell to the ground. Locals had rushed them to a hospital. Akshay, an HR professional working in Rajajinagar, suffered severe head injuries, including bleeding from his nose, mouth, and ears.
