BIDAR: Hatyal village in Basavakalyan taluk, where some upper caste families had stopped sending their children to one of the anganwadis, upset over the appointment of a Dalit teacher and an assistant, has decided to do away with the practice of untouchability.
Legislator Sharanu Salagar, village leaders and officials held a meeting between the two groups and it was decided to do away with the practice and also send children back to the anganwadi.
The event was marked by exchange of sweets at the Hanuman temple in the village and exchange of hugs.
