Passengers waited all night for the train.

KALABURAGI: Hundreds of passengers were put to hardship as the Basava Express train, which was scheduled to arrive at Kalaburagi at 9.15 pm on Wednesday, was a full seven hours late and arrived only at 4.30 am on Thursday.

The passengers, including children and the aged, were forced to spend the entire night at the railway station. The railway authorities did not even give proper updates, they alleged.

The waiting passengers got into an argument with GRP officials.

“The railway officials kept announcing that the train will arrive in 10-15 minutes, but it was a full 7 hours late. We had to suffer due to the irresponsible attitude of the officials”, they said. The Basava Express train runs between Bagalkot and Mysuru and runs on all days of the week.

Six coaches of the Talaguppa-Mysuru train had got uncoupled.

In another incident, six coaches of the Talaguppa-Mysuru train got uncoupled on a bridge across the Tunga river a little distance from the Shivamogga railway station on Wednesday evening.

The train was brought back and the coached reattached.

Ten other coaches of the train had moved ahead and as soon as the train loco pilot realised that six coaches had got uncoupled, he stopped the train and brought it back. After a delay of 45 minutes, the coaches were coupled again and the train proceeded to Mysuru.
