Basanagouda Daddal gets ED notice to join probe tomorrow, likely to apply for anticipatory bail

BENGALURU: Congress MLA and chairman of the Maharshi Valmiki Schedule Tribe Development Corporation, Basanagouda Daddal, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Valmiki Corporation multi-crore scam case. He has been asked to join the investigation at the ED office in Shantinagar at 11 am on Wednesday.

Basanagouda Daddal attended the Assembly session on Tuesday.

The Assembly session is on for 10 days and Daddal may have been counting on his legislator’s privilege to dodge arrest till the session in on. However, the Assembly Speaker’s permission is required for a lawmaker’s arrest. Daddal fears arrest by the ED officials and hence is likely apply for anticipatory bail at the special court for elected representatives.

Daddal has already received a notice from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and attended the investigation. Also, Pampanna, accused Daddal of his involvement in illegal activities, has not been investigated. Therefore, Daddal’s arrest may not happen any time soon.
