CHIKKAMAGALUR: Banners have suddenly sprung up in different parts of Sringeri seeking to locate a ‘missing’ 100-bed hospital that was first announced in the state budget in 2003. The banners seem to take potshots at the government over unkept promise.

The hospital was first announced in 2003 at a cost of Rs 27 crore and was subsequently reiterated in three more budgets. The banners, put up by the 100-bed Hospital Horata Samiti also says the hospital needs gynaecologists, orthopaedicians and child specialists and suggests that those interested in working at the hospital can contact the district health officer.

The unique banner protests, seen across Sringeri taluk, is being seen as the outburst of anger against the state government over the unfulfilled commitment on the 100-bed hospital.
