DHARWAD, CHITRADURGA: Three people, including a manager at a Canara Bank branch in Belagavi, died while six were injured in separate accidents in different parts of the state on Friday.
Rahul Shukla (40), a manager with Canara Bank in Belagavi, who hailed from Madhya Pradesh, died while his wife Shreya Shukla (35) and their three-year-old daughter Kiana suffered serious injuries after their car rammed into a goods vehicle from behind on the national highway near Tegur in Dharwad taluk.
The family was returning to Belagavi from Dharwad when the accident occurred. The goods vehicle fled from the scene. The Garag police visited the spot and shifted the injured to a private hospital in Dharwad. A case has been registered and the police are on the lookout for the goods vehicle and its driver.
In another accident, two people died and four others were injured after a goods vehicle collided against the retaining wall of a bridge near Lokadolalu village on the Holalkere-Hosadurga road around 4.30 am on Friday. The deceased were identified as Dharanesh (58) and Rangaswamy (45) of Upparahatti village in Holalkere taluk.
It is said that the goods vehicle (KA-17AA-8926) driver was speeding, leading to the accident. The Holalkere police visited the spot and shifted the injured to a hospital. A case has been registered in this regard.
