BENGALURU: A man claiming to be a Bangladeshi national was thrashed by the public for defacing an idol in Devarabeesanahalli.
The accused, identified as Kabeer Mondal, pelted stones, kicked the idol with footwear, and vandalized the dwarkapala idol at the Venugopalaswamy Temple at Devarabeesanahalli, allegedly under the influence of liquor. The locals later handed over to Marathahalli police.

The police are investigating the motive behind the act, with Mondal having lived illegally in the area for five years, doing some work. It is unclear whether the act was intentional or committed under the influence. Security has been increased around the temple with KSRP personnel and local police deployed.
