The Andhra Pradesh police arrested Abdul Salam (36) from Ballari, who was allegedly involved in spreading extremist ideologies and had connections with banned organisations.

The police had received information about Salam’s activities and tracked him down to his house at Cowl Bazaar in Ballari. The Andhra Pradesh police, with the help of local authorities, arrested Salam and seized evidence from his home. The police had registered a case against Salam and others on March 23, following which a search warrant was issued, leading to the arrest of 12 people across the country.

One of the accused, Mohammed Rehmatulla Sharif (23), was arrested in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, and provided crucial information leading to the other arrests. The accused are alleged to have used social media to promote radical and extremist ideologies, including those of ISIS.
