BALLARI: A couple died on the spot and their two children sustained serious injuries after the car in which they were travelling jumped the divider and crashed, near Hirehalla Gate close to Talaku in Chitradurga district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Home Guard Superintendent Gopinath (50) and his wife Srilatha (42), hailing from Ballari. Srilatha was working as a teacher at MGM School while Gopinath was serving in Mangaluru. The accident occurred when they were coming from Mulgabal to Ballari.
Their daughter Shreya and son Srinivas sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Chitradurga. The police have registered a case.
