NEW DELHI: Bangalore South BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Thursday attacked the Congress and said that Babasaheb Ambedkar faced the greatest humiliation of his political life thrice because of Congress and former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s “conspiracy”.

“Over the last few days, the Congress party has been trying to pose as the greatest champions of the Constitution and the greatest Ambedkarites ever. The truth can not be further from this assertion. This newspaper clipping from 27 April 1948 covers Dr B R Ambedkar’s speech at the annual conference of the UP SC federation in Lucknow. The central import of the message is that joining Congress will be suicidal…

“Dr B R Ambedkar was serving as India’s law minister under Nehru at the time… Babasaheb Ambedkar faced the greatest humiliation of his political life thrice because of Congress and Pandit Nehru’s conspiracy. Even at the time of his death, Congress did not arrange an aircraft for taking his mortal remains. They did not build a memorial in Delhi,” Surya said.

“In her autobiography, Savita Ambedkar wrote how Congress and the Communists, at the instruction of Nehru worked overtime to defeat Babasaheb in two elections”, he added.

Meanwhile, INDIA bloc MPs, led by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, held a protest on Thursday in the Parliament premises and demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks on Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Many MPs including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sanjay Raut, Mahua Majhi, and Ram Gopal Yadav were seen wearing blue clothes as a mark of protest against the Home Minister’s remarks.

This criticism followed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent remarks in the Rajya Sabha, where Shah reportedly said, “If they had taken the name of God so many times instead of Ambedkar, they would have got heaven for seven lives”. (ANI)
