MYSURU: On the ninth day of the Dasara festivities, Ayudha Puja was held in a traditional manner at the Amba Vilas palace here. Mysuru royal family scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar offered puja to the palace weapons, vehicles, the royal elephant, horse and cow.

Rituals were held right from the morning Chandika Homa being performed at the Chamundi Thotti. The royal elephant, horse and cow were later brought to the palace and the private weapons of the royal family were taken to the Sri Kodi Someshwara temple through the Ane Bagilu. From there, they were brought to the kalyna mantapa in the palace where Yaduveer offered puja.

The ‘Simha visarjan’ ritual was performed in the evening after Yaduveer conducted a private darbar from the golden throne. Later, the ‘kankana visarjan’ ritual was conducted. With this, the Navarathri celebrations at the palace concluded. On Saturday, Vijayadashami, the grand Dasara procession is taken out from the Mysuru palace to the Bannimantap parade ground.
