BELAGAVI: An autorickshaw and its driver were washed away in overflowing water at Yaragatti village in the district on Thursday night. The villagers had launched a search for missing driver.
A lake on the outskirts of the village was overflowing after the heavy rain. The autorickshaw and the driver were washed away when trying to cross a bridge. Villagers launched a search for the driver by securing ropes.
Elsewhere, at Chikkanandi village in Gokak taluk, a woman died after a wall of her house collapsed on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Fakeeravva Haveri (65).
Villagers managed to extricate Fakeeravva from under the debris, but she had died. The incident occurred under Gokak Rural police limits and the autopsy was conducted at the Gokak government hospital.
