The head constable has alleged that he and his son were assaulted by the Govindaraj Nagar police.

BENGALURU: A police head constable attached to the Attibele police station in Anekal taluk was allegedly kidnapped and brutally assaulted by a team of policemen from the Govindaraj Nagar police station near the Attibele tool booth on April 25. Though the head constable had filed a complaint, the Attibele polic are reportedly dragging their feet in registering a case.

A team of eight policemen from the Govindaraj Nagar police station had come in two cars near the Attibele toll plaza. When Attibele head constable Afroz Khan’s son Ali Asgar Khan came on a motorcycle to a bakery nearby, the Govindaraj Nagar police team allegedly stopped him on the pretext of checking his documents.

The policemen allegedly caught Afroz by the scruff of his collar and assaulted him though he told them that his father was a policeman. When Afroz Khan arrived at the spot and questioned the Govindaraj Nagar police why they were assaulting his son, the team, which included ASI Hanumagouda Patil, constables Arjun Kamble, Prasanna and Suresh snatched his phone, abused him and brutally assaulted him, as per the complaint. They also took him away in a car and threatened to kill him, it added.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV camera. Afroz has claimed that though he lodged a complaint, no case was registered despite bringing the matter to the notice of Deputy SP Mohan Kumar and Police Inspector Raghav.
