MYSURU: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday expressed firm support for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and took on the opposition BJP and JD(S).

Shivakumar said all the 136 MLAs are with him and said the opposition cannot do anything. Shivakumar was speaking at the Congress convention organised at the Maharaja College grounds in Mysuru.

He also addressed JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and BJP leaders R Ashoka and BY Vijayendra in singular and accused them of trying to topple the government. “You want resignation? The media calls me ‘bande’ (rock). We have launched this campaign to protest our guarantees”, he said.

“If the Congress comes to power, it means the people get power. Our Janandolana is to protest the state and the Constitution. Kumaraswamy, under your leadership, the JD(S) got 19 seats. Under DK Shivakumar’s leadership, we got 136 seats”, the Deputy CM said. He said even the British could not uproot the Congress and directly attacked Kumaraswamy saying the latter cannot damage the party in two lifetimes.

On the MUDA site allotment to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, Shivakumar said, “Parvathi’s brother gifted the land to her and Siddaramaiah didn’t know about it. After it was notified, Parvathi sought alternate land for which 14 sites were given. What is wrong in it? Had Siddaramaiah written a letter seeking sites for his wife? The sites were given during the tenure of Basavaraj Bommai”. He also alleged that there were 28 scams during the tenure of the previous BJP government.
