Artifacts resembling Stone-Age weapon, metal bell and stone pillar found in Lakkundi

Monday was the fourth day of the excavation.

GADAG: The fourth day of excavation at the historic site of Lakkundi in Gadag district, has yielded interesting finds. The excavation has yielded significant finds including including a weapon from the Stone Age, a metal bell and a stone beam.

A stone tool, resembling an axe and likely used in the Stone Age has been discovered. The tool is oval-shaped with a sharp edge. A metal bell was also found on Sunday evening.

A stone beam, likely part of an ancient structure, has been discovered. This beam was probably used to support a stone pillar in a mantap. The excavation team is carefully preserving the ancient artifacts.

Meanwhile, a swami, Shivayya Hiremath, created a scene at the site, claiming to be a miracle man and Rani Chennamma’s descendant. He claimed there was a 1,000-kg gold statue and crown buried where he was standing, and offered to reveal it.
