Arrested software engineer admits to killing his two-year-old daughter

KOLAR: A software engineer hailing from Gujarat, who was arrested at KSR Railway Station, has confessed that he had killed his three-year-old daughter and attempted suicide over financial issues at Kendatti village lake on Friday. The deceased daughter has been identified as Jiya.

Rahul Parmar is a resident of Bagalur in Bengaluru and a native of Gujarat. He was married to Bhavya and they had a daughter. On November 15, Rahul left home saying he was taking Jiya to school. When he did not return, his wife filed a missing person’s police complaint at the Bagalur police station. On November 16, Jiya’s body was found afloat in a lake at Kendatti village.

Initially, the family members and police suspected that Rahul too had drowned in the lake, as his car and other belongings were found near the lake. Three days later, he called up some family members and cooked up a story that he had been kidnapped. The police traced his location and arrested him at the KSR Railway Station.

Rahul confessed to the police that he had killed his daughter. He said he had invested in Bitcoins on his wife’s advice, but faced a huge loss. He had also taken loans and lenders had started to visit their house. So he decided to commit suicide and drove to Kendatti Village. He strangled his daughter and jumped into the lake, but the water was not deep and he was saved. After that, he took a train and he attempted to jump from the train but failed to do so.
