Arrested MLA Veerendra Puppy’s ED custody ends today, ED likely to seek more custody

BENGALURU: Arrested Chitradurga MLA K C Veerendra Puppy’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody ended on Thursday in a casino case. Puppy might be sent to Parappana Agrahara Central Jail. If custody isn’t granted, the ED might request judicial custody.

Initially, the ED had taken Veerendra Puppy into custody for five days and then for another six days. Since the ED custody ends on Thursday day, the central agency is planning to seek custody again.

The ED has seized Rs 40 crore from Puppy’s nine accounts and Rs 14 crore from hundreds of mule accounts. The ED has also seized five luxury cars. The agency plans for further custody to get information about the source of funds.

He was arrested on August 23, in Gangtok, Sikkim, connection with a massive illegal online and offline betting racket. The ED arrested him under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, following a massive two-day nationwide search operation that started on August 22.
