BENGALURU: Bengaluru’s Silk Board area commuters have been facing traffic‑related hardships for many years. Although flyovers have been built on this route to ease traffic, the problem has not been solved.
The much‑awaited double‑decked flyover was partially opened last year on the Ragigudda and HSR Layout stretch, easing traffic. Now, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) plans to open another section for traffic soon and it is expected to greatly ease traffic.

Now, BMRCL is planning to put a full stop all these annoyances by the end of January next year and is preparing to ease traffic, bringing good news for commuters in the new year.
Yashavanth Chavan, chief public relations officer of BMRCL, said, “Currently, about 80 per cent of the civil work is completed. Two viaducts need to be installed on either side right next to the Central Silk Board metro station. The BMRCL is already accelerating this work and plans to finish construction by early January, complete all testing by the end of the month, and open the stretcg for traffic”.
“At present, commuters coming from Outer Ring Road and the HSR Layout side have been facing vehicle congestion in this area for many years, and if this strech is opened, people from HSR Layout can use the flyover to reach Central Silk Board Junction directly. This will reduce about half the traffic problems in this area”, Chavan added.
