BELAGAVI: In a curious twist to the recent death of Rudranna Yedavannavar, a second division assistant (SDA) at the tahsildar’s office, an unsigned, typed letter addressed to the deputy SP has claimed that it was not a suicide and was in fact a murder.
This comes on the back of the accused tahsildar Basavaraj Nagarala, Ashok Kabbaliger and minister Laxmi Hebbalkar’s personal assistant Somu getting bail in the case. Rudresh was found hanging at the tahsildar’s office on
November 5. He had reportedly sent out a text on WhatsApp holding three people responsible for his death.
The letter claims that Rudranna Yedavannavar a.k.a. Rudresh had not committed suicide and that the tahsildar’s driver Yellappa Badasada was the kingpin in the case. It also said that if the tahsildar’s jeep is checked, all evidence would be found.
The letter further says that Yellappa’s wife was involved in an illicit affair and had taken all his money and if he is questioned, the mystery would be unravelled. The letter also calls for justice to the victim Rudresh. Copies of the letter were also marked to the governor, human rights commission chairperson, Belagavi police commissioner, the district deputy commissioner and the investigating officer.
Speaking to the media, Rudresh’s mother Yellavva said he was not one who would commit suicide. “The accused are out on bail and I am scared as I live alone. The police should investigate the case properly. I have doubts that my son was murdered. Will there be no justice for my son?” she asked.
Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang said, “We are working on the basis of the post-mortem report. On the day of the incident, the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) team had also visited the place. We will check about the letter, so far it has not come to my notice”.
