Anjali killer arrived near her house by autorickshaw, fled within a few minutes

Anjali Ambigera was brutally murdered by Girish alias Vishwa inside her house in the early hours on Wednesday.

HUBBALLI: More than 24 hours after the brutal murder of 21-year-old Anjali Ambigera at Veerapura Oni here, the accused Girish a.k.a. Vishwa has not been traced. Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar, meanwhile, has formed two teams and one of them has gone to Mysuru to look for the accused.

The police are also going through CCTV from to track the movements of Girish. He had arrived at Anjali’s house by an autorickshaw and was barely in her house for two minutes when he stabbed her multiple times and fled. He was also captured on CCTV camera at the new bus stand in Hubballi while he was making his escape.

The police are also creating awareness at schools, colleges, workplaces and other spots where there more women congregate about the laws for protection of women.

Meanwhile, the BJP took out a protest rally from Anjali’s house in Veerapura Oni to the Town police station. The protesters raised slogans against the state government and demanded the transfer of the police commissioner.

BJP leaders and activists took out a protest march in Hubballi on Thursday.

Moorusavira Math seer, MLA Mahesh Tenginakai visited the house of the victim and expressed condolences to the family. The seer promised free education for the sisters of the victim at the math and other help. Dingaleshwara Swami of Shirahatti Fakireshwara Math and HDMC councillor Niranjan Hiremath also visited the family.

Incidentally, Anjali’s murder occurred in the HDMC ward that Niranjan Hiremath represents and he too had joined the protesters on Wednesday.

Mahesh Tenginakai blamed the laxity of the police for the murders of Neha Hiremath, daughter of Congress councillor Niranjan Hiremath, and Anjali Ambigera. “Two police personnel have been suspended and this shows the failure of the government. People are so angry that they want the culprit shot. Before the people take the law into their own hands, the government should act”, the MLA said.

On the other hand, Congress leaders have also expressed dissatisfaction about the law and order situation and demanded the transfer of police officers including the police commissioner. KPCC general secretary Rajath Ullagaddimath has also written a letter to Home Minister G Parameshwara in this regard.
