BAGALKOT: A man murdered his three-year-old nephew by slitting the child’s throat, at Benakanavari village in Hungund taluk on Tuesday. He went to the anganwadi, where the child was, offered a chocolate and took the boy home where he committed the murder.
The accused Bheemappa Walikar was reportedly angry with his brother Maruthi Walikar for advising him not to beat his wife. When no one was at home on Tuesday, Bheemappa brought his nephew back from the anganwadi and slit the boy’s throat.
The family immediately shifted the boy to the primary health centre at Amingarh, but he could not be saved. They demanded that Bheemappa should be sentenced to life for committing the crime. A case has been registered at the Amingarh police station and further investigation is under way.
