BENGALURU: Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently created a stir when he said that if the Congress gets a majority, state Congress president D K Shivakumar will be made the next chief minister of Karnataka. To add to it, Shah, during an interview with Public TV, even said that he had come to know that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has already spoken to Shivakumar regarding this.

Shah’s remarks have now caused ripples within the Congress with questions being raised on whether Siddaramaiah will become chief minister or not. There is also scepticism that Amit Shah may have rolled a political dice to create dissent in the state Congress, while some are wondering if it was just a political statement or whether there is any hidden agenda behind it.

Opposition leader Siddaramaiah had already announced that the upcoming Assembly election will be his last. Now, with Amit Shah’s statement, questions are being asked if such talks did actually happen in the Congress circles and if Siddaramaiah a senior leader, and the Kuruba community know about this beforehand.
