Ambulance services to be affected as staff go on strike

BENGALURU: Ambulance service are likely to witness a disruption from Monday evening and the staff of the 108 ambulance service have planned to go on strike over unpaid dues. Those requiring emergency services are likely to be affected.

The employees of the 108 emergency ambulance Service are on strike demanding payment of arrears. The ambulance staff, operated by the GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI)  will go on strike and stop their services from 8 pm today.

According to the staff, GVK EMRI employs more than 2,500 people and they allege that half of their salaries were given in December and January.  It is alleged that the salary has not been paid for the last three months. The ambulance service employees have warned that they will continue to strike if they do not get any assurance from the government on release of dues.
