Ambulance driver takes risk to reach pregnant woman to hospital despite brake failure

MADIKERI: An ambulance driver risked his life to safely transport a pregnant woman to a hospital despite facing a brake failure.

The driver, B S Venkatesh, was driving the ambulance from Madikeri to Bengaluru’s Indira Gandhi Hospital when the vehicle’s rear wheel got locked, causing the brakes to fail. Despite the challenge, Venkatesh successfully carried the pregnant woman to the hospital.

On his return journey, he encountered a road accident victim with a head injury and bravely transported him from Bilekere to Hunsur Hospital. Venkatesh’s courageous act has earned him widespread appreciation across Kodagu district. Currently working at the district hospital in Madikeri.

Venkatesh had also played a crucial role during the Covid-19 pandemic by helping with the last rites of deceased individuals. The people of the district are hoping that he will inspire many other youngsters, who can reach patients immediately without any black spots and who care deeply about patients.
