BENGALURU: The IT/BT hub of Bengaluru is known for its notorious traffic jams, but that does not seem to deter new vehicle buyers. While the vehicle count in the city has already crossed one crore, an average of 2,000 new vehicles are being booked every day.

Across the state, there are 3.1 crore registered vehicles till March-end this year of which more than one crore are in Bengaluru itself. Only in March, as many as 1.7 lakh vehicles were registered across the state. In the year 2023-24, a whopping 1.6 crore vehicles were registered in the state, as per figures available with the Transport Department.

The data also shows that about 1,300 two-wheelers and 500 cars are added to Bengaluru’s roads every day. In the first three months of this year, 78 lakh two-wheelers, 23.9 lakh cars, 1.2 lakh buses, 2.9 lakh taxis and 3.2 lakh autorickshaws were registered.
