VIJAYAPUR: The Lal Bahadur Shastri Dam, also known as Almatti Dam in Nidagundi taluk, built across the Krishna River in North Karnataka, is now full.

The Lal Bahadur Shastri reservoir has a total capacity of 123.081 tmcft and has reached full capacity by the second week of August. The current inflow is 22,432 cusecs while the outflow is 17,548 cusecs.

Unlike last year, when the reservoir did not reach full capacity due to inadequate rainfall, this year’s rainfall in Maharashtra has has helped in filling up the reservoir, despite Karnataka facing a rainfall deficit. People of the district are happy and eagerly awaiting the CM’s visit to offer bagina at Almatti Dam.
