All three elements of stoplog installed at TB dam crest gate 19, water flow regulated

The stoplogs being lowered at the 19th crest gate of Tungabhadra dam on Satuday.

BALLARI: Tungabhadra board authorities have successfully installed all three elements of the stoplog at the crest gate 19 of the Tungabhadra dam on Saturday. With this flow of water has been regulated after three days of continuous efforts. Now, only about 500-1,000 cusecs of water is going out of the 19th crest gate.

Following the installation of the stoplogs the dam authorities have now stopped water flow from all the 32 crest gates while only some water continues to flow from the 19th gate. The dam, with a capacity of 105 tmcft of water, now has about 79 tmcft in storage. The dam authorities hope to complete installation of the crest gate by Saturday or Sunday.

The first element of the stoplog was lowered on Friday night.

The first element of the stoplog was lowered and installed on Friday night and the second element was lowered on Saturday morning. The final element was lowered on Saturday afternoon. With this, the authorities were able to curtail the outflow from the reservoir.

The maximum storage level at the dam is 1,633 feet and it was 1,625 on Saturday. The maximum storage is 105 tmcft and had 79 tmcft of water on Saturday and it is expected that the dam will reach full level in a week’s time. The inflow was 84,796 cusecs while the outflow was reduced to 500 cusecs.
