HAVERI: “All mother tongues (regional languages) need Constitutional protection. We have been facing failure for thirty years. We will work to convey these thoughts to Delhi. People from the outside the state are coming here and taking advantage of Karnataka, but they do not learn Kannada. We will launch a Kannada teaching drive for them and they must learn it in this year. We will make it at the earliest possible”, CM Bommai said.
He was speaking about the pressure on Kannadigas at border districts at the valedictory ceremony of three day 86th Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana held at Haveri on Sunday.
“The cradle of the mother Bhubaneswari mother is rich. Kannadigas are-kind hearted people, it is the quality of this soil”, he said.
CM Bommai further said, “We are moving forward by facing all the challenges. India stands on top, starting from entrepreneurs, industry and technology. There are ten agricultural zones in Karnataka. Agricultural activities go all the 365 days because we have good water sources. The Kalasa- Banduri has got the go-ahead and as soon as possible, the Upper Krishna project will also be taken up. The Upper Bhadra project is also in progress, he noted.
Bommai said, “Karnataka’s first national irrigation project will get approval soon. The government will give all the good news to Kannadigas soon. In the case of Mekadatu, we are confident of getting clearance. Our double engine government will deliver justice to Kannadigas”.
CM Bommai further said, “We will work on identifying the issues of the Kannadigas across the border by discussing with the border areas board president. Our government will arrange pension for those who fight outside the border. I have given Rs 20 crore to the border authority and I will give Rs 100 crore this year”.
“The president of the Sammelana has brought to my attention the issue of withdrawing the cases of Kannada fighters. When I was the Home Minister, we had withdrawn many such cases filed in many districts. We will withdraw the cases against the activists as per the provision in the law.”
So far, Rs 13.30 crore has been released by the Union government for the study of ancient languages, and Mysuru University has provided the building. Everything will move soon”, Bommai added.
“A team of language experts, scholars, writers will be formed under the guidance of president of the Sammelana to research on Classical (shastriya) language. Real research should be that which gives value to Kannada. Our government is ready for it no matter how much it costs and ready to pay as much as the committee says”.
“If everyone stands up for Kannada, it will strengthen the language . That is the purpose of Kannada Sahitya Sammelana”.
“Our Kannada language has received the highest number of Jnanpith awards. There is a close connection to the Kannada and public. Kannada has been recognized in entire India. Kannada is the most transparent language with clarity and authenticity. There is excellence in art, culture and life. We should all be proud to be in this land of excellence. We have to do the work of conserving this rich culture”, Bommai concluded.
The President of the Sahitya Sammelan Doddarange Gowda invited the opponents of Sahitya Sammelana for a debate at the Parishat and threw a challange to progressive thinkers who objected to organising the Sammelana.”
My prayer for those who oppose the convention, I want to invite you to Sahitya Parishad. Opinion may be different. Let sit together and sort it out. There is a need exhibit Kannada unity and it has a significant place in world literature. It has to be taken to greater heights. Hence, writers who opposed the sammelana should come for a debate. There is no use in criticising and come to an logical end with a debate”, he challenged the Progressive thinkers.
Govt ready to implement all points for the development of the Kannada language, Karnataka-CM Bommai
The State government will get all points from group discussions and speeches that are helpful in the development of Kannada literature and Karnataka from the chairman of Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana and implement the same in the letter and the spirit said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to media at Haveri.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, he said the valedictory of the three-day Kannada meet ended and over two lakh people visited and participated in it. Several group discussions were held in which litterateurs participated. The feelings of the litterateurs will be taken positively.
“I will compliment Labour and District-In-Charge Minister Shivaram Hebbar, Kannada and Culture Minister V.Sunil Kumar, deputy commissioner, and a host of officials of various departments who worked day and night to make this event a grand success. I will also thank the people of my district for hosting thousands of people from across the state on all three days”.
No place for violence
Asked about the shoo on Sri Ram Sena President in Belagavi, the CM said instruction has been given to the police officers to take the incident seriously and to launch the operation immediately to nab the accused. Violence is not the solution to any differences of opinion. The police will bear the medical expenses of the victim as well as arrest the culprits soon.
