The Gandhi family will be in Belagavi for three days from December 25.

BELAGAVI: Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, her son children Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will stay in Belagavi for three days starting December 25 for the centenary session of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

On Friday, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is also the KPCC president, held a preparatory meeting at the Congress office at Sangolli Rayanna Circle here. The Congress government in the state and the party plan to have a meaningful centenary celebration.

The first AICC session, chaired by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, was held in Belagavi in 1924. To mark the occasion, the party plans to have year-long programmes. The centenary celebrations will be held between December 25 and 27.

Apart from Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, other nationals leaders, all chief ministers of Congress-ruled states, 150 lawmakers and 40 PCC presidents are expected to take part in the session which is also expected to make some major announcements.
